1a. I personally use a tree diagram, which shows all the combinations and their relative probability in a series of branches and logic nodes. By multiplying together the fractions that follow a set of branches leading to a certain outcome, you get the theoretical probability of that outcome occurring.
1b.You have never tested to probability, so you can't say it's true probability. It's only a theory, since you haven't tried.
2a. Maybe yes, probably no. The theoretical best sample size in infinity, but they both obviously have not played the game an infinite number of times. If the sample size is not infinity, the experimental probability has a chance of being inaccurate- so no, they might not be.
2b. If they calculate properly, yes. Theoretical probability is just a theory, so you don't have to try an infinite number of times. This makes correctly calculating the probability possible.
2c. Ignoring the fact that the result might contaminated with human error, and the fact that someone might have magic powers and might just experiment an infinite number of times, maybe the will be the same, maybe not. The theoretical probability is accurate, but maybe the experimental probability isn't because of the inability to create the perfect sample size. It the two people are lucky, they might be the same. MIGHT.
3. That either sides desirable outcome has an equal chance of occurring.
4. A sample space is a table that shows all combinations possible between two event, thereby creating a fraction of outcomes to total squares.

RLA Feature Article
<Embed issues with video>
Video Transcript:
Firstly, I selected by background to put an idea of something truly pre-historic, because, at first glance, it might seem that this is an article on early civilization, but it is truly on the time before it. All the boxes of text and images follow the same basic idea- a light brown background with dark brown text. It's designed to look like ancient wall etchings.
Secondly, the font of the title and Sub-headings is designed to key into the background and text colour. Also, it appears more noticeable and surprisingly a lot softer and cleaner, as if it isn't just big text, it's an important part of my article.
The large table had some very specific design choices implemented into it. First, it explains what happened after the beginning of civilization, but it also joins with the hidden theme if how much humans were capable of even in ancient times- which is why the table is mainly just a name, a location, and the achievements that they gained. Sadly, the table was just a bit too big, and rammed into the text box. The rest of the features in the article had some open space containing background in between them and the rest of the article. This is why I coloured the table slightly different from the rest of the article.

Investigation Four Reflection
1a1. When calculating coordinates for a theoretical destination several light years away, one has approximately, say, a one half chance of correctly calculating the coordinates. However, one also has to account for the fact that any information gained on a destination one hundred light years away will by one hundred years old, because it takes one hundred years for any light or radio waves to reach you. Since prediction of exactly where the destination has moved or changed over a hundred years is nearly impossible, one has only a one fourth chance of correctly calculating that.
1a2. You have only a 1/8 chance of correctly finding the coordinates. Imagine if you were in the future, and you were calculating a destination for FTL travel- you would only have a 1/8 chance of not being stranded in deep space with no way back.
1b1. You luckily made it to your destination, but you failed your prediction of what would happen to your destination over the last few years. The nearby binary star happened to run out of fuel, and gravity collapsed it into a supernova. Your only chance of escaping is to accelerate deep into the supernova and slingshot around its gravity field, potentially letting you escape. Sadly, supernovas are constantly changing, and so you only have a one fourth chance of predicting where the gravity field is, and even if you do you only have a one fifth chance that the supernova has a strong enough gravity to catapult you fast enough away, before you are incinerated.
1b2. You have an itty-bitty 1/20 chance of living. Poor you.
2a. To create an area model for the first event, you create a 10x10 grid. Then, you divide the first side into two equal sections- Success and Failure. Then, you divide the second side into four equal sides- three failure and one success. If you follow the lines from the sections, you can see that only one of the eight areas has an overlap of two success sections.
2b. A simulation is simply a physical (or digital) recreation of the event. They can be used several times to find an experimental probability of something.
3. If you line up all the results, and write down the number of times you would expect to them to occur. Then for each result, multiply the number of times they would occur by the point/token/coin/gain value that you would get if they occur. Then add all those numbers together, and divide by 100. You come up with the expected point/token/coin/gain value each time the event occurs.
4.Long-term is over several occurrences of an event- and expected value is technically the payout over several occurrences of the event.

Title of Video
INT. SHIP CABIN. ANY TIME
Sebi talks to Lukas about money.
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
Maintain your course, helmsman. The captain has requested I report to his office immediately.
ARMAAN THE HELMSMAN
Understood.
Lukas enters the office. Seby waves a scrap of paper in his face.
SEBY
It’s the final scrap of the map! Now I can find the lost treasure of Redbeard!
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
And I have another piece of bloody map that I have to piece together… why are we looking for the treasure of Mr. Soulless Ginger Pirate anyway?
SEBY
Because… of the adventure! Because it will be fun! Because we’re pirates and we love finding treasure!
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
...and because you want the cash.
SEBI
Well, I want cash too.
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
Lets Split the treasure 50 50, deal?
Sebi
No! I want at least 75%.
ARMAAN THE HELMSMAN
<Off Screen>
I want some too......
LUKAS/SEBY
NO WAY!
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
But I did all the work!
SEBI
But I’m the captain! Besides, If I get the treasure I get 75%, but if I die getting it you get 100%, deal?
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
(Evil Grin)
Oh, really, then…
Sebi
But if I die you won't have any treasure left. Cause you’re too scared to get it.
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
I AM AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THIS MISSION AND I CAN PROVE IT! Here, what do you see here?
SEBI
(Sighs)
Our Pirate ship?
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
I see a gigantic sinking disaster WAITING TO HAPPEN. And if you don’t have me onboard it will be a gigantic sinking disaster HAPPENING TO YOU.
Sebi
you just take 25%.
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
Well, I am very sorry, but I am underpaid and overworked, and you are going too far! I have to live as well! And there are quite a few pirate ships in need of a helpful deckhand who WILL PAY 50%! I have no choice but to resign.
SEBY
YOU GET ALL THE CASH YOU DESERVE IN THIS AGREEMENT!
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
DO YOU ACCEPT MY BLOODY RESIGNATION OR NOT?!
SEBY
I DO!
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
<pauses>. All right. Thank you.
SEBY
(sighs)
You’re not actually doing this to me, are you?
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
I definitely am. And by official record, I never fully sent the SS Phoenix to you, as described in our official employment contract. I am withdrawing my ship from our contract. You are now on my territory, and I am ordering you off immediately.
SEBY
You’re kidding, right?
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
I am abandoning you on this island. The Phoenix leaves at dawn. You have until then to re-instate my employment.
SEBY
Seriously? 50 50?
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
Well… actually… I think I’ll be taking… mmm… 75. At least.
SEBY
THAT WAS NOT THE AGREEMENT!
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
I am altering the agreement. Pray I do not alter it any further.
Pulls out flintlock pistol and fires. Smoke comes out of the pistol, but Lukas is not harmed.
Seby
(extreme rage)
What in blazes?
Grabs pistol from seby’s hand and throws it into the sea.
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
I took the liberty of confiscating the gunpowder storage in our armory. However, my sidearm is loaded
SEBY
(throws punch at Lukas)
BASTARD! CHEATING SCOUNDREL!
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
Well, maybe I’m feeling generous. Have your map. Perhaps I will be seeing you again, if I happen to end in Davy Jones Locker as well.
SEBY
WEASEL! LYING WEASEL!
LUKAS THE DECKHAND
GET OFF MY SHIP!
SEBY
GLADLY! I HOPE I CAN SEE YOUR FACE WHEN I DRAG HOME THE TREASURE!

2.2 Choosing Marbles Spinner Design!
- Take a screenshot of your final spinner and put it in your post.

- How did you decide how to design your spinner?
- The first three statements told me the proportions of the three colours, so I could set them up. The last statement made it possible for blue to occur, so blue had to have an three on it to make blue and three be possible. And the fourth statement encompassed the entire spinner- all colours have to have an odd number, except red. So I decided red might as well be even.
- How did you confirm that your spinner design met the criteria?
- All statements are true, since I used them to create the spinner. They should be correct both ways, but the top paragraph explains how I fulfilled all of them.
- Is there more than one acceptable spinner design? If so, what will the spinners have in common? What will be different?
- Red could have been and odd number. It would still fulfill statement four. Or, if you really thought out of the box, you could say red was both even and odd, by writing two numbers. It is possible.

What do You Expect? Investigation 1
1. Experimental probability is a probability that you have tested. You can't be certain the probability is accurate, as you can never conduct an infinite number of tests, but by rolling a dice fifty times you are probably going to be more accurate with your probabilities than if you took a guess. Conducting the tests (trials) is easy- just repeatedly take the chance, write down your results, and make an average for the chance of the result occurring.
2. 500 is more accurate. Let's say you have a coin that you flip. If you did the test thirty times, you might get anywhere from twenty eight heads to three heads and thereby have an inaccurate result. But if you did the test five hundred times there is a much lower chance of an outlier occurring as there are more flips that can correct a twenty eight heads streak, and turn the chance back toward fifty percent.
3. There are two meanings- if a result has a fifty percent chance of occurring, you could say it is equally likely (to happen and not to happen). But you could also say that if you had a three sided dice (if that was possible), with 1, 2, and 3, then 1 and 2 would also be equally likely to occur- because they both have a 33.3% chance of occurring. Equally likely to occur.

Walking Sticks!
1. What would you predict would happen to a population of bright green walking sticks that move onto a bamboo thicket? Why do you predict this (use your data)!
In my data, over the first three generations, all bright green insects and all brown insects went extinct. Chances are the bright green insects would be killed.
2. Why did one color of walking stick become the dominant variety in the wood chip environment over five generations?
Brown walking sticks. They blended in best, so they were harder to click.
3. Which walking stick was best adapted to each environment? How did you know?
Bright green did best in bush, green did best in bamboo, and brown did best in wood chips.
4. Based on the reading, Limiting Factors, which limiting factor or factors play a role in this model? How do you know?
Well, lack of food for the walking sticks could be problematic, because even if no predator can see the sticks, the insects could still die of starvation. Without food, the population wouldn't be able to create new insects. Maybe stick insects can only reproduce or lay eggs in a certain place. Maybe brown stick insects lay white eggs that stand out like sore thumbs in wood chip environment, and so the insects need a white environment to hide their eggs. Or maybe the winter will wipe out the insects because they have no food, or no shelter, or no place to blend in.
UN Day Reflection
RLA: We recited the poetry that we had written in front of
Did you learn a new skill or discover an interest during UN Day?
Decision making! It's difficult, but it seems to be fun in some way. It's the arguing the that does it, but the ability to have a voice helps too.
During UN Day, did you hear, smell, or feel anything that surprised you?
There was a surprising amount of american, Korean, and indian foods. I didn't see much else. The variety of food was great, but the variety of home countries was not.
Math: We had a decision-making simulation- ten people needed a liver transplant. Only four could be saved. Which ones?
PE: We took a bucket of water around the track twice, to show how hard gaining water is in third world countries.
Science: We acted out a disaster simulation, and learned some countries gain more help after a disaster than others.
Food Festival: Each kid brought a dish from their home country. We then tried it all!Did you learn a new skill or discover an interest during UN Day?

PSA Analysis
2. Daniel Gvozden and the Non-Profit SAVE organisation.
3. Know the signs of suicide. Make sure you don't let your friends die.
4. Dramatic and Emotional. Unless there is a celebrity I don't recognize.
5. The PSA is a little long, and there isn't much surprise. If I saw this as a youTube Five-Seconds-to-Skip I wouldn't have seen it. In todays society, it isn't that good. There is also no humor, no shock, and a tiny bit of creativity. The creator has no actual credibility either, in fact.
6. No, I have never known anyone who even thought about committing suicide. But the school-oriented view does affect me a little, as I can relate to the surroundings.

Dairy Farm Reflection
What was my field trip to the Dairy Farm like? Well, we didn't see much dairy, and we didn't see much farm. Sadly, most of the original rainforest has been cut down to make way for dairy farming, but the jungle has taken most of its original land back. The soil here is dry, because there isn't much rain nowadays. We learned about a snake that could burrow underground by using its tail as a pick, but with the ground growing harder, this is growing increasingly difficult. Also, the forest is no longer shielded from wind, because of the BKE cutting down the guardian trees that block the wind, so the forest is being destroyed quickly. The soil is so dry, we might even see the extinction on certain burrowers in Singapore, which could topple the ecosystem. The soil in the SAS forest is also inhospitable for burrowers, so Bukit Timah, MacRitchie, and Botanic Gardens might also be facing the same problem.
Did you know, rubber seeds explode? When they have grown to a certain size, they disperse by firing a chemical explosion which launches the seeds into the air. In a light-poor area, this helps disperse the seed over large distance. The explosions that punctuated the cicadas in the forest scared lots of people in our group, but I think the most frightening of what Raj taught is about was the flying snake. By flattening its body, it can glide over fifty meters from the top of a tree (where in blazes are the aerodynamics of that?) and crash land into its preys face. Imagine being attacked by one of those...
Luckily, SAS doesn't have any of those.
Hopefully.

The Heroes Journey - Star Trek: First Contact
1. Hero in an Ordinary World
Picard is in charge of the Enterprise-E, operating on a patrol mission of the Romulan Neutral Zone- which has seen nothing suspicious in the last five years.
2. Call to Adventure
The Borg send a Cube to attack Sector 001, and a fleet of forty starships are sent to protect Earth. The Enterprise-E is a Sovereign-class so it is more than capable of engaging the Cube, and could turn the tables if it joined the battle.
3. Refusal of the Call
Starfleet orders Picard to remain patrolling the Neutral Zone. Picard chooses to follow orders, even though he knows the real reason he can't join the fight is that he was once assimilated into the Borg, and his tactics let the borg destroy an entire fleet of ships at Wolf 359.
4. Meeting the Mentor
Perhaps Lily, from the 21st century, is Picards mentor, for she teaches Picard why he shouldn't waste more Tactical Soldiers on saving the Enterprise, because he is simply sending them to their death, and destroy the Enterprise instead, thereby killing the Borg and saving the timeline.
5. Crossing the Threshold
Picard and the Enterprise-E follow the Borg Sphere back in time to save Earth.
6. Tests, Allies, Enemies
Riker, Picards first officer, discovers Zefram Cochrane, the inventor of warp travel, and tries to recruit him into helping them save earth. Back on the Enterprise-E, the Borg have boarded in Main Engineering, and are assimilating the starship from the inside.
7. Belly of the Whale
Picard enters the transwarp matrix with the Borg Sphere and return to the 22nd century to stop the Sphere before it overtakes the currently primitive Earth.
8. The Road of Trials
First, the Borg assimilate the plasma coolant tanks which were the Enterprises only defense against Borg assimilation. Picard fails miserably, First Officer Data is captured and two Tactical Squads are assimilated. Then, Picard is stranded deep inside the Enterprise and surrounded by Borg. He does better here, and tricks two Borg Drones into the holodeck, and shoots them with a tommy gun from a recreation of the 20th century. Then, the Borg attempt to make a beacon on the Enterprises Navigational Deflector, so Picard, Security Officer Worf, and Helmsman Hawk take an EV suit and detach the Beacon from the Deflector, but Hawk is assimilated and Worf must kill him.
9. The Ultimate Gift
In this case, the gift would be a normal timeline- Zefram Cochrane completes his warp flight just as history should have been.
10. The Road Back
The Enterprise recreates the time travel patterns of the late Borg Sphere, and travel forward in time to the present.
11. Rebirth/Resurrection
Mankinds history has been fixed. The next Borg invasion is not for another six years.

Weapons of Mass Distraction
In all honesty, a total around 95% of all people in my class look at something they shouldn't be on in the middle of class. Being at the back of the class, I can see almost everyones computers, and still haven't seen more than two people on what they should be on. And it is really, really, really hard to concentrate on what the teacher said while concentration on something else. I have tried it. But it is hard not to go on another site- as I am writing this, there is someone right next to me looking at Facebook. But when the class begins to drag on, and we go onto a topic that I have already basically understood, or doesn't seem to be necessary to my learning (you have said that "this is the most important lesson in seventh grade" hundreds of times, Mr. Buxton), I will go onto something- even worse, I will directly try to find something more interesting even without an ad, or an eMail. I will try to distract myself just so that I can escape the lesson and look at something more interesting or funny. That's also why people immediately read an email when they receive it- they are bored with what they are doing and so they directly try to distract themselves by reading the email. And even better, receiving an eMail isn't their fault, so they technically aren't distracting themselves, they are the ones being distracted, and of course, the email could be important, so there is no guilt from distracting yourself on an eMail. All in all, the actual distraction is boredom- if I don't think the lesson is worth listening to, I won't listen.

Complicated sentences and Complex sentences
What is a complex sentence?
A complex sentence is a sentence which has one independent clause with one or more dependent clauses, which, unlike both clauses in a compound sentence, CANNOT stand alone.
What are the different parts that make up a complex sentence?
Two subjects and verbs (one for each clause), a subordinator (kind of like FANBOYS, joins the two clauses together, FX. Because, Since, After...), and if the subordinator is a the beginning of the sentence, a comma in between the two clauses.
What are the differences between complex sentences and compound sentences?
Compound sentences have two independent clauses that can both stand alone in a sentence. Complex sentences have one independent clause and one dependent clause, which cannot stand alone. Also, Compound sentences are linked with FANBOYS, complex sentences can have many other subordinators.
I went to Social Studies after lunch, but my friend headed off to RLA. While I was working on my Social Studies project, I realized I had forgotten my computer. I ran down to the RLA room, but my friend wasn't in his class. I did not see my friend because he had left to find me. Although I had forgotten my computer at the cafeteria, my friend had already found it and was trying to return it!

My Fitness Plan
1. Do you think you are getting enough exercise? Why or why not?
1. Do you think you are getting enough exercise? Why or why not?
Hardly. Just getting 60 minutes on each day was incredibly hard, especially with extracurriculars and such. On a normal basis, I would probably get a lot less than 60 minutes.
2. Check out the benefits of fitness document we have shared with you.
What Benefits of fitness do you hope to improve through your weekly fitness plan? Please list 3-5 benefits of fitness
Exercising improves my self-esteem and enthusiasm, and it decreases stress. Also, it decreases the chance of heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis and several other particularly dangerous diseases. It also helps several other seemingly trivial things, such as better digestion, better sleep, and makes calcium distribution more efficient.

Critique- the Door Scene
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh6UzVZWyP8
After the big switch we received Justin, Grace, and Jacobs door scene. It was a slightly less than detailed, but the text underneath more than made up for that. It seemed to lack several key details- most of the movie was outside ten feet of the door, and the relief scene didn't really seem relieving. The worst part was that we were responsible for making the movie follow the criteria best...
To improve the storyboard, a little artistic clarity would be helpful. Also, the relief scene didn't seem to make any sense, and it didn't connect to the previous scene. However, the eyes and mouth scene was really creative, and the relief scene was funny- if you look in the right place. The shadow was also a great way to build tension and dramatical-ness.
There were lots of great opportunities for camera angles. Most of the storyboard shots were full body shots, except the door handle jiggling scene, so we changed many of them. Sound effects for this movie would be best if they were more dramatic instead of creepy. The running was hardly creepy, so you would need some music that was dramatic, and built tension instead of fear.
You really need a clear storyboard, that is complete. In the last scene, the description said "victim wakes up, but little does she know...", and we had no idea what they meant. We guessed that there should be another person peeking out at the victim as she woke up, but it was hard to shoot as the panel only has a picture of two people diagonal from each other with no background whatsoever.
We need to change the first scene. It was a clever pan of the main character, from feet to head, but since it was from behind it looked like it was from the point of view of a child molester. We will keep the key scene, with the close up of a door handle, because it showed what the victim was trying to do, but it didn't show what was actually around the victim, so it made you wonder what horrible abomination was stalking the victim.

We will keep the key scene, with the close up of a door handle, because it showed what the victim was trying to do, but it didn't show what was actually around the victim, so it made you wonder what horrible abomination was stalking the victim.
